How We Handle Patio Drainage
Most patio failures in this area trace back to water, not pavers. Our clay-heavy soil holds moisture, and water trapped under or beside a patio is what works the surface loose over time. We plan where that water goes before we lay a single stone, tying patio drainage into the surrounding grade so it moves away from the patio and the house. Retaining Walls Built Right The First Time
A retaining wall is doing real structural work: holding back soil and the water in it. We size and build each wall around the actual site, the soil, the slope, the load above it, rather than stacking block to a standard recipe. The piece most walls fail without is drainage. Water building up behind a wall creates pressure that pushes it out of line and eventually brings it down. Every wall we build gets proper drainage behind it, gravel backfill and drain lines, so that pressure has somewhere to go and the wall stays put.
